Reflections of Lesson I

This is my summary and reflection of the first Term 2 Infocomm Studies Lesson. To summarize, this lesson is mainly about the background and content of the World Wide Web.

In the first lesson, we crawled through a 57-slide presentation, of which I conclude:
The Internet's growth is indeed rapid, speeding from 4 host nodes in September, 1969, when it had first gone operational for scientists at different physical locations to share information, to more than 200 million in the present day.

The Internet is controlled by no one. It is partially controlled by media and IT companies. In short, everyone controls the Internet. You can access it with slow or high speed connection, and you can chose which service provider to use, like Cable, DSL or Satellite. In addition, there is the convience it brings, granting you instant and easy access to information. We also learnt about domain names, URLs and others, such as subject directories and search engines.

Also, there are about nine different types of sites, with each serving a different purpose.

I want to express gratitude as this lesson and greatly taught me and explained much more about the internet.
